New uPVC Sliding Door Installed in Southfields, London SW18

New uPVC Sliding Door Installed in Southfields, London SW18

A door does not always need to swing open to provide easy access.

At this property on Gressenhall Road, the entrance formed part of an existing white-framed glazed structure. The available space and the surrounding frame layout made a sliding system a sensible fit for the opening.

Redwood Shopfront installed a new white uPVC sliding door designed to sit neatly alongside the existing windows and glazed panels. The finished door keeps the area bright, avoids taking up unnecessary opening space and maintains the appearance of the wider structure.

Fitted Around the Existing Opening

This job was mainly about getting the proportions and alignment right.

The surrounding structure already had white frames, broad glazed sections and solid lower panels. The new door therefore needed to look like part of the existing setup rather than an unrelated addition.

The opening was measured before the door was prepared, allowing the frame, track and sliding panel to be fitted around the available space.

Accurate alignment is particularly important with sliding doors. The moving panel needs to travel cleanly along the track, meet the frame correctly and close without dragging or needing to be forced.

The white uPVC finish also helped the new section blend with the neighbouring frames.

The Finished Result

The completed installation provides a simple glazed entrance that works well within the existing structure.

Because the door slides sideways, it does not take up additional floor space when opened. The broad glass panel keeps the area bright and avoids making the entrance feel closed off.

From outside, the new frame follows the colour and layout of the surrounding units. The finished door looks neat, practical and appropriate for the property rather than overly heavy or commercial.

Need a Sliding Door Fitted?

Redwood Shopfront installs made-to-measure doors, windows and glazed systems for existing and newly prepared openings.

The right system depends on the size of the opening, surrounding frames, access requirements and how the door will be used.

FAQ

Does Redwood Shopfront install uPVC sliding doors in Southfields?

This project was completed at Gressenhall Road in Southfields, London SW18. Availability for another project will depend on the location, measurements, access and required door specification.

In many cases, yes. The existing opening, surrounding frames, threshold and structural condition must first be checked. The new door can then be measured and manufactured to suit the available space.

It may be possible to replace the door and frame without replacing every surrounding window. This depends on the condition, dimensions and compatibility of the existing structure.

A sliding door opens along a horizontal track and does not need space for a door leaf to swing. This can make it more practical in areas where internal or external space is limited.
