Ensuring Security, Accessibility, and Peace of Mind

At Redwood Shopfront, safety, compliance, and installation quality are at the core of every project we complete across London and the South East.

We follow recognised UK safety standards, commercial installation best practices, and manufacturer guidelines for all:

  • aluminium shopfront installations,
  • roller shutter systems,
  • commercial glazing,
  • glass partition systems,
  • entrance doors, and security solutions.

Our goal is to deliver commercial frontage systems that are:

  • safe,
  • durable,
  • legally compliant,
  • secure, and built for long-term performance.

Whether we are installing a new retail shopfront, replacing glazing, fitting steel security shutters, or carrying out emergency repairs, every project is completed with safety and compliance in mind.

Our Commitment to Safety & Compliance

We understand that commercial property owners, retail businesses, restaurants, offices, pharmacies, and landlords require installation work that meets modern safety expectations and operational standards.

Our installation approach focuses on:

  • structural integrity,
  • glazing safety,
  • secure access,
  • fire awareness,
  • operational reliability, and safe installation practices.

Every project is assessed individually to ensure the correct materials, systems, and fixing methods are used for the property type and application.

Shopfront Installation Standards

Our commercial shopfront systems are designed and installed to support:

  • structural stability,
  • safe public access,
  • weather resistance,
  • durability, and secure day-to-day operation.

We install a range of systems including:

  • aluminium shopfronts,
  • frameless glass shopfronts,
  • timber shopfronts,
  • automatic entrance systems, and commercial glazing solutions.

All installations are completed using professional fitting methods and suitable commercial-grade materials.

Automatic & Manual Door Regulations

Whether you operate a high-traffic retail entrance or a private office lobby, your doors must be safe for everyone to use.

  • BS EN 16005: The European standard for safety in use of power-operated pedestrian doors. We ensure all automatic doors are fitted with the correct sensors, emergency break-outs, and clear safety signage to prevent trapping or impact.
  • Equality Act & Document M: Our designs follow Building Regulations Approved Document M, ensuring thresholds are flush for wheelchair access and door widths meet the minimum requirements for inclusive design.

Glazing Safety Standards

We use high-performance safety glass that complies with BS EN 12600 (which supersedes BS 6206). Our installations prioritize “Critical Locations” areas most prone to human impact, such as doors and low-level windows.

  • Toughened Safety Glass (BS EN 12150): Up to five times stronger than standard glass. If broken, it shatters into small, blunt granules to prevent injury.
  • Laminated Safety Glass (BS EN 14449): Features a PVB interlayer that holds glass fragments in place if impacted, providing an extra layer of security against break-ins.
  • Regulation 14 Compliance: We ensure all commercial glazing meets the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992, ensuring glass is either robust enough to resist breakage or breaks safely.

Roller Shutter & Industrial Door Compliance

Commercial shutters are classed as “machinery,” and failing to maintain them can lead to legal liability. Redwood Shopfront helps you stay compliant with:

  • BS EN 12453: The standard for safety in use of power-operated doors. This covers force-limitation and the requirement for safety brakes on all overhead shutters.
  • PUWER 1998: Under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations, business owners are legally required to ensure shutters are “fit for purpose” and regularly maintained.
  • LPS 1175 / PAS 24: For high-security environments, we provide shutters and doorsets tested to resist professional forced entry attempts.

Emergency Repair Safety Procedures

Emergency repair work is carried out with a focus on:

  • site safety,
  • temporary security,
  • operational access, and risk reduction.

This may include:

  • emergency shutter repairs,
  • glazing replacement,
  • boarding-up solutions,
  • securing damaged entrances, and restoring safe access to commercial premises.

We aim to minimise disruption while helping businesses secure their property as quickly as possible.

Health & Safety During Installation

We maintain safe working practices during all installation and repair projects.

This includes:

  • site assessments,
  • safe handling procedures,
  • controlled installation areas, and responsible use of tools and equipment.

Our installation process is planned to reduce disruption while maintaining a safe working environment for:

  • staff, customers, contractors,
    and the general public.

Maintenance & Ongoing Compliance

Compliance is an ongoing responsibility, particularly for powered shutters, doors, and high-traffic entrance systems.

To support long-term reliability and operational safety, we provide:

  • planned preventative maintenance,
  • servicing support,
  • compliance logbooks,
  • safety inspections, and emergency repair assistance.

Routine maintenance can help reduce:

  • unexpected breakdowns,
  • operational failures,
  • safety risks, and costly repairs.
