A New Aluminium Shopfront for Royal Peri Peri in Northampton

Completed aluminium shopfront at Royal Peri Peri on Sheep Street Northampton

A restaurant frontage does not need excessive detailing to make an impact. Sometimes the right approach is simply to open up the view into the premises, give customers a clear entrance and keep the framing neat around the existing branding.

That is what Redwood Shopfront achieved at Royal Peri Peri Northampton NN1 2LU.

The completed shopfront combines a wide glazed frontage with a centrally positioned aluminium entrance door, creating a clean commercial finish beneath the restaurant’s existing signage.

For this project, the layout was kept straightforward. The glass remains the main visual feature, while the aluminium framing defines the opening without making the frontage feel heavy or overcrowded.

A More Open Frontage on Sheep Street

The width of the premises allowed for substantial glazing on both sides of the entrance.

Rather than dividing the front into several smaller sections, the installation uses larger glazed areas to keep the restaurant interior visible from Sheep Street. The lighting, seating and counter area can all be seen from outside, which works well for a customer-facing food business.

The shopfront was glazed using 8.8 mm safety laminated glass, fitted within the aluminium framework. You can read more about our commercial safety glass options.

For the main structure, Redwood used 45 x 100 mm aluminium box sections with a 3 mm profile thickness, creating a clean frame around the glazing and entrance.

A Central Entrance Within the Glazed Frontage

The entrance door sits close to the centre of the shopfront, creating a clear route into the restaurant while keeping the overall frontage visually balanced.

Because the door is also glazed, it continues the open appearance of the surrounding frontage rather than creating a solid break through the middle.

The entrance was fitted with 5-lever hook locks, an anti-drill cylinder and a heavy-duty door closer, providing the hardware required for regular commercial use.

Working Around the Existing Restaurant Branding

The Royal Peri Peri fascia above the shopfront already gives the premises a strong visual identity.

The new frontage therefore did not need additional decorative detailing underneath it.

Instead, the darker aluminium framing sits neatly below the fascia and allows the existing signage to remain the main branding element when the premises is viewed from the street.

This keeps the frontage visually simple while still giving the lower part of the property a clearly defined commercial entrance.

The Finished Result

The completed shopfront gives Royal Peri Peri a cleaner and more open street-facing entrance while keeping the restaurant interior visible from Sheep Street.

The combination of laminated glazing, aluminium framing, commercial door hardware and the central entrance has been arranged around the actual width and use of the premises rather than following a standard shopfront layout.
