  • New Aluminium Double Glazed Windows and Bifold Doors Installed at Gloucester
Aluminium double glazed windows and bifold doors at 175 Bristol Road Gloucester

Quick Summary

Redwood Shopfront recently completed a replacement aluminium window and door project at 175 Bristol Road, Gloucester GL1 5TG.

The property had several different window openings across the ground and upper floors, along with a wide entrance area that required a glazed bifold door system. New dark grey aluminium frames and double glazed units were installed throughout to give the building a more coordinated appearance.

Because the openings varied in size and layout, each section had to be measured and manufactured individually. The completed installation now brings the windows and doors together with one matching frame finish, while still allowing for natural light, ventilation and practical access.

Replacing Windows Across Different Parts of the Building

This was not a straightforward single-window replacement.

The property includes wide ground-floor glazing, upper-floor windows, smaller individual openings and a large bifold door section. Each area required a slightly different frame arrangement, but the finished installation still needed to look like one complete system.

Dark grey aluminium was used throughout the project. This gave the building a consistent finish and created a clear contrast with the lighter rendered exterior.

The wider window sections were divided into multiple glazed panels, with selected opening casements included where ventilation was required. Smaller openings were manufactured in the same finish so they did not look separate from the rest of the installation.

What Was Installed

The work included:

  • Made-to-measure aluminium window frames
  • Double glazed window units
  • Fixed glazed panels
  • Opening casement windows
  • A wide glazed aluminium bifold door system
  • Matching dark grey frames across the property
  • Frames manufactured to suit the existing openings
  • Finishing around the fitted window and door sections

Accurate measurements were particularly important on this project because the size and configuration of the openings differed across the building.

The finished photographs show how the same aluminium system was used for both the larger window sections and the smaller openings without making the exterior look mismatched.

Looking After Aluminium Windows and Bifold Doors

Aluminium frames do not usually require extensive maintenance, but the moving parts and surrounding components should still be checked regularly.

Glass, seals, handles, locks, hinges, tracks and drainage areas should be kept clean and inspected for signs of wear. Bifold doors should open and close smoothly without needing to be forced.

Dragging panels, stiff movement, damaged seals or alignment problems should be looked at early, before they place additional strain on the doors or hardware.

Further information about ongoing checks and repair support is available on our warranty and maintenance page.
