The Challenge & Solution

The Challenge: Big Space, Narrow Timeline

When we first stepped onto the site at Kingsbury Road, we were looking at a massive, double-fronted unit that felt closed off and dated.

The client had a specific vision: they’ve put a lot of heart into the interior decor, and they didn’t want a heavy, clunky frame hiding it.

They needed a “retail-theatre” feel where pedestrians could see the vibrant atmosphere from the street, but the glass also had to be tough enough to handle the non-stop footfall of a busy London restaurant.

Our Process: The Solution

We knew a standard storefront wouldn’t cut it here. We went with a full-height frameless design to create that “seamless” look.

  • Engineering for Safety: We used high-impact toughened safety glass. It looks delicate and sleek, but it’s built to withstand thousands of “open-close” cycles every single week.
  • Removing the Barriers: By using glass-to-glass joints and minimal architectural hardware, we effectively turned the entire front of the restaurant into one giant display window.
  • The Hustle: We coordinated our team to ensure the installation was polished and sealed in time for their grand opening, ensuring the brand looked premium from day one.

Why this setup works for a place like Kingsbury

When our team finished the last seal on the glass, the difference was immediate. It’s not just about “looking good”; there’s some actual science behind why we chose this specific frameless setup.

  • It’s a footfall magnet. Since we went frameless, there’s zero barrier between the sidewalk and the vibe inside. It basically turns the whole restaurant into a giant, walking advertisement.
  • Built for the London hustle. We didn’t just pick any glass; we used high-spec toughened safety glass. It’s specifically engineered to survive thousands of slams and “open-close” cycles in a busy spot like Kingsbury.
  • That “Premium” edge. By using glass-to-glass joints rather than chunky frames, the shopfront looks more expensive. It instantly tells customers that Chai & Chapati is a high-end brand.
  • Total Transformation. We took a dark, dated double-unit and flooded it with natural light. It feels bigger, cleaner, and way more modern than what was there before.
