The cafe’s previous narrow door created a ‘bottleneck’ for morning commuters at Hornchurch station, and the dark timber frames hid the interior menu boards from passing foot traffic on Upminster Road.

The goal was to create a solution that allowed the entire front of HR’s Cafe House to open up during warmer months while remaining fully insulated and secure during winter.
The Solution
We designed and installed a bespoke aluminium door system tailored to high-traffic retail use:
- We installed a 3-panel bifold system that allows the café to fully “open up” to the Hornchurch high street during peak trading hours.
- For day-to-day operations, we integrated a standalone swing door with a high-traffic closer, and customers can enter easily without compromising the shop’s internal temperature.
